Dear reader,

I hope everything is going well for everyone. The last few months have been hectic due to all of the college work and exams. It's stressful, and it's difficult for me. Reading books was advantageous to me. I was tired of studying, so I picked up a book and read every day to unwind for an hour. It's wonderful. I felt relieved after finishing a book. It kept me on track and at peace. Therapeutic!

The topic of today's article is the pleasure of reading. Let's get into it! Shall we?

Books! What an enchanting word! I love them. I mean, you don't need a password to read them. They are waiting for us to open and embark on a beautiful journey.

I'd like to share my experience with reading books and the type of pleasure it gives; a few suggestions, tips, and so on.

Alright! Let's dive into it.

It all started when I was in intermediate school. My sister advised me to read books when I didn’t feel like studying the whole day. I'm not a big reader, but I used to admire people who do. My first book was Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone.

You won't believe me when I say this; it gave me a new feather to my soul, just like when Harry buys his first wand, and it gives him a new feather. That's exactly how I felt.

I adored the smell of the book, its pages, and everything about it. It's incredible. I read the same book multiple times before moving on to other books. I'm in a situation where I don't want to study, so reading a book helped. Then I started looking for new books at home. I read every book in my house. My father and sister were both bookworms. Thanks to them I get to read lots of books. I did a BA in English literature, which allowed me to read a large number of books. For the first time, I got to experience a library with my friends. I felt as if I were entering a whole new world. When I didn't have anyone to talk to, I turned to books for comfort, and I never felt lonely when surrounded by books.

Then slowly, I started exploring different genres and literature across the world. I adore the classics. First, I had difficulty reading them. Then I realised that, while it may be boring, if you keep going, you won't be able to put your book down until you finish it.

That's how I read half of the classics, not all of them. My friends and I used to discuss our thoughts on the books. You learn about different people's perspectives on how they felt. We actually became very close as a result of our shared interest in books. We used to go to places suggested in the books, such as a park, beach or a particular street. We used to go to literary festivals, which were fantastic. I remember going to a literary feast with a friend and meeting a lot of authors. I'm sorry, but I don't recall their names. It's nice that they talked about their books and why they wrote them, how they felt while writing, and so on. Visiting bookstores and public libraries is my way of getting away from reality. They made me feel as though I belonged here.

Since we're already here, I can assist those who find it difficult to read novels.

  • If you want to start reading a novel, don't think it is complicated or tedious. Have a positive attitude when you are reading.

  • Set a goal for yourself, like reading for 30 minutes or reading 50 pages a day. It helps you to be on track.

  • Don't compare yourself with others when you are reading. It takes all the excitement and only gets complicated. You won't be having an exam after every time you finish a book. Read it at your own pace.

  • Consider it as a phone, with the ability to scroll through sentences and pages. You can put it down when you've had enough. Remember that it does not require a password or a battery. It doesn't give you pressure but gives you a lot of pleasure.

  • First, start reading with simple books. Go for something you feel comfortable with. It can be children's books, or you can start reading harry potter just how I started.

  • Explore different genres.

  • You can read books that are related to movies or series of your preference.

  • Don't always rely on what other people say. They may dislike a particular book, but who knows, you might grow to enjoy it.

  • Enjoy when you are reading. Create a comfortable place for yourself when you are reading.

  • If not novel, go for fan-fiction. They are incredible.

These are some tips to help you get started reading and stay on track. I'm not asking you to just do these. Try them out and take your first step on this exciting journey filled with various stories and characters. They (books) make you realise how much there is to discover in this world. When I open a new book to read, these little angels fly over to greet me and say, 'Welcome Aboard!' It may seem ridiculous, but it is a magical sensation.

I hope you found this article relevant and inspiring. I would appreciate your suggestions and feedback. I wish you a wonderful day! Stay safe!

Yours

Vidya :)

Nice blog. Good that you have picked up that habit from your father. Keep reading and writing.
