Weekly letter #2

Writer's picture: THE RULED NOTEBOOKTHE RULED NOTEBOOK

Updated: Jan 18, 2022

Dear reader,

I hope everything is well with you and that you are staying healthy. This week was full of enjoyable events and both productive and peaceful. I recently completed an online course on Wordsworth's life and works. They discussed when he began writing poetry and how he wrote the longest poem, 'The Prelude'. Don't worry, and I won't discuss the poem; instead, I'll discuss my favorite part of the course.

Letter writing and journaling! Because paper was so expensive during William Wordsworth's time, letter writing was the only way to communicate with his friends. His sister, Dorothy, also writes letters and keeps a journal. She carries a diary of their travels, his brother's struggles with writing a poem, and her daily activities, mostly about her home and friends. She is keenly perceptive and writes clearly and neatly. Some of her brother's poetry writing had benefited from her journals. The only surviving letters from the William and Dorothy Wordsworth to Coleridge are the 'Christmas Eve letter' and the ' Goslar letter.' Wordsworth describes his lovely home (dove cottage) in great detail in one letter. It may be a long letter, but it's fascinating to read. Dorothy's journals are fascinating, and the way she writes allows us to imagine what she is writing. She writes in her journal every day to improve her writing skills.

After finishing the course, I began writing letters to my sister daily. I also wrote it to myself on occasion. Have you ever written yourself a letter? If you haven't already, start writing one! You'll feel great and learn more about yourself.

Aside from that, I made a new friend who enjoys painting and watching k-dramas, and I saw a puppy peeing. It seems innocent but cute. Also, I noticed a bird that was continually chirping. It arrives in the evening, rants about its problems, and then flies away as if nothing had happened. Then we lay down and stared at the moon, stars, and occasionally planes. I saw two jets that resembled enchanting shooting stars.

Also, I started listening to a new audio-book called 'Almond,' which is so far exciting, but I'm dying to know how it ends. Another book I recently ordered was 'Budugu,' which I read when I was younger. (I don't remember reading this book, but I'm pretty sure I was not too fond of it), but my sister and I couldn't stop laughing about this now. If I think about it, it's been a long time since I've laughed so hard with my sister. These days, I'm attempting a 5-minute meditation, but I can only manage 3 minutes.

Do you have any plans for 2022? Mine is uninstalling WhatsApp and Instagram, which I have done successfully and am now enjoying my days. It's so calm and peaceful! Finally!!

An artist and illustrator, my wonderful sister, created a wall hangings out of recycled cardboard. It's incredibly cute. Her creativity was going above and beyond her wildest dreams these days. In addition, I realised something about my sister. She is capable of cracking jokes. It took me a long time to realise that. Lol :)

(I mean, she can crack jokes, but they weren't always so humorous. Nowadays, all I can think of is that she will doubtlessly be a comedian if she isn't an artist.)

( the mobile made from cardboard! isn't it cute?)

Ohh! I'm interested in learning and writing haiku. So I tried to write one. I thought I'd share it with you. Here's it is:

Have a wonderful week, and taking care of yourself.

Yours lovely

Vidya
